Post-Accident Care at Evolve Chiropractic
In the State of Texas, individuals involved in a motor vehicle accident are entitled to healthcare utilizing their car insurance - regardless of fault.
How Does This Work?
Car insurance is a mandatory requirement in Texas, and your car insurance has a portion of coverage called personal injury protection (PIP). PIP in Texas starts at $2,500 and depending on your plan, can extend to $5,000 or even $10,000. PIP can be used for your medical expenses to ensure you are being seen and taken care of following motor vehicle accidents. Evolve Chiropractic accepts PIP as a form of payment for all services in our clinic!
Who Can Use PIP?
Simple Answer: Anyone involved in a motor vehicle accident - regardless of fault, including passengers. So if you have been in an accident, be sure to utilize your PIP so you can be treated essentially for free using your car insurance!
Is There a Timeframe I have To Use My PIP?
Yes, in Texas the timeframe for PIP usage is within 3 years of incurred insurance expense. However it is recommended to use it as soon as damage is known (immediately following an accident). You do not have to be undergoing litigation to use your PIP on healthcare services!
Is Chiropractic Care Safe Following An Accident?
Yes! It is the gold-standard for care following an accident. In many cases, 8-12 weeks of chiropractic care following an accident can mitigate the probability of requiring surgery, or the use of pain management. Chiropractic care is a safe and effective way to manage inflammation, soreness, stiffness, pain, and neurological symptoms following motor vehicle accidents.
Additional Information Regarding PIP From Legal Sources:
“PIP insurance is first-party auto insurance coverage that pays for your medical expenses, lost wages and other costs if you’re injured in a car accident. PIP also covers medical expenses for passengers in your car who are hurt due to a collision. In Texas, personal injury protection (PIP) insurance is mandatory, unless you sign a waiver declining the coverage.”
”Personal injury protection coverage in Texas pays for you and your passengers if your car accident results in injuries, no matter who is at fault….Texas requires that every driver is offered at least $2,500 of PIP insurance. You can typically obtain coverage for $5,000 or $10,000 if you want additional financial protection. The policy limit extends to each person injured in an accident, and it refers to the total amount of benefits available across all expenses.”
”Personal injury protection insurance only provides coverage for costs that occur within three years of an accident, but we recommend that you report all injuries and expenses to the insurer as soon as you’re aware of them.
When filing a claim, include all receipts, bills, documentation of payments and other associated documents to help ensure it’s processed quickly. Depending on the type of expense, a PIP claim provides different levels of reimbursement: PIP insurance pays for 100% of the costs of medical treatment, ambulance services and funeral expenses. It’s important to document all such treatments and their costs, as well as obtain documentation from the appropriate service provider to show that these were related to the car accident. Otherwise, you may not obtain full reimbursement.”
