Normatec Compression Therapy At Evolve

Evolve Chiropractic is excited to include Normatec Compression Therapy as a service.

What is Compression Therapy?

Compression Therapy is the use of controlled compression over extremities - the arms or legs/hips. Compression therapy has been being used to treat various disorders for well over 50 years. In the 1980’s, gradient compression stockings were invented after various studies concluded that they were able to reduce blood lactate in muscles after strenuous exercise. At Evolve Chiropractic, we utilize HyperIce compression products, which are the gold standard for achieving the benefits associated with this treatment. This system uses compressed air in the patented NormaTec Pulse Massage Pattern for the duration of 30-60 minutes to effectively treat the client. There are attachments for your legs, arms, and hips.

What Are The Benefits of Compression Therapy?

Compression Therapy reduces inflammation in the extremities and improves blood flow to the heart when active, when released there is a rush of blood flow and lymphatic drainage from the extremities. This therapy can be extremely helpful for recovery, warm up, and more significant diagnoses. This therapy supports your veins, and overall decreases swelling. During the pre-inflate cycle, the sleeves will mold to your exact body shape and the process begins. It will start by compressing your feet, hands, or quads depending on which attachment you’re hooked up to.

Each segment of the attachment will first compress in a pulsing manner and then release; There are 3 different massage techniques used during the treatment: pulsing, gradient, and distal release. Pulsing mimics the muscle pump which enhances the movement of fluid and lactic acid (what makes you sore) out of the limbs after an intense workout. Gradient uses hold pressures to prevent fluid backflow while distal releases those holds once they are no longer needed.

What Does Compression Therapy Look Like?

Typical Compression Therapy Treatments are 30-60 minutes in length, and are most effective in a zero gravity position.
